Browns Environmental Statement.
We are privileged to be living in the Dukeries and Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire and try to run Browns in a way that has minimal effect upon our environment.
To this end we adopt the following practices.
1. An on-going programme to replace the bulbs in all lighting fixtures with low energy types.
2. Use of small low wattage kettles on hospitality trays.
3. Notices in each bathroom encourage guests to think about how often they require fresh towels.
4. "A" rated electrical appliances replace older versions where possible.
5. Condensing boiler for heating the cottage.
6. Night storage heaters, using economy electricity during the night, and log effect electric stoves for added heat if needed.
7. Support the local economy by using locally sourced products wherever possible.
8. Promote the Dukeries, Sherwood Forest and local businesses with an array of information leaflets.
9. Support local delivery of bottled milk and re-cycling of milk bottles.
10. Support local free range egg producer and return of egg cartons.
11. By making our own jam and preserves, glass jars are re-used.
12. Purchasing a growing number of recycled products, e.g. stationary from recycled paper and re-using supermarket bags.
13. Water butt used for tubs and plant pots.
14. The property is non-smoking throughout.
We would appreciate assistance and encourage guests to help by:
1. Not leaving lights and the electric fire on when leaving the premises.
2. Not leaving the TV on standby mode.
3. Supporting local businesses.
4. Leaving newspapers, glass and plastic bottles to the side of main rubbish so we can recycle them.
